Multiplicity and transverse energy of produced gluon in relativistic heavy ion collision
نویسنده
چکیده
We present a simple gluon production picture which is based on the McLerran-Venugopalan model and gluon BFKL evolution in relativistic heavy ion collision. Results for the multiplicity and transverse energy distribution in both the central and forward rapidity regions for gluon production in early stages of heavy ion collisions at the LHC are given. Finally, we provide a general qualitative discussion of the consequences of the forward rapidity behavior of produced gluons. ∗Electronic address: [email protected]

Coherent gluon production in very-high-energy heavy-ion collisions.
The early stages of a relativistic heavy-ion collision are examined in the framework of an effective classical SU(3) Yang-Mills theory in the transverse plane. We compute the initial energy and number distributions, per unit rapidity, at midrapidity, of gluons produced in high-energy heavy-ion collisions. We discuss the phenomenological implications of our results in light of the recent Relativ...
متن کاملGluon multiplicity in coherent diffraction of onium on a heavy nucleus
We derive the cross section for the diffractive gluon production in high energy onium-nucleus collisions that includes the low-x evolution effects in the rapidity interval between the onium and the produced gluon and in the rapidity interval between the gluon and the target nucleus. We analyze our result in two limiting cases: when the onium size is much smaller than the saturation scale and wh...
متن کاملA Survey of Multiplicity Fluctuations in PHENIX
The PHENIX Experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider has made measurements of event-by-event fluctuations in the charged particle multiplicity as a function of collision energy, centrality, collision species, and transverse momentum in heavy ion collisions. The results of these measurements will be reviewed and discussed.
متن کاملThe initial gluon multiplicity in heavy ion collisions
The initial gluon multiplicity per unit area per unit rapidity, dN/L2/dη, in high energy nuclear collisions, is equal to fN(gμL)(gμ)/g, with μ2 proportional to the gluon density per unit area of the colliding nuclei. For an SU(2) gauge theory, we compute fN (g2μL) = 0.14 ± 0.01 for a wide range in g2μL. Extrapolating to SU(3), we predict dN/L2/dη for values of g2μL in the range relevant to the ...
متن کاملSearch for Quark-gluon Plasma and Jets Production in Ultra{relativistic Ion Collisions
We analyze the sensitivity of the collisional and radiative energy losses of hard par-tonic jets to the main parameters and space-time evolution of the dense matter, which is expected to be created in ultra{relativistic heavy ion collisions. The problem of \true\ QCD-jets recognition against the \false\ jets background (statistical uctuations of the transverse energy ux arising from a huge mult...
